When the Temperature Drops (Best Foods to Eat on a Cold Weather, aside from Hot Soup)

Aside from drinking a lot of water on cold rainy days to prevent getting common colds, eating some warm soup also helps keep our bodies warm and cozy.

But do you know, besides warm soup, you can grab and munch on other foods to keep your body warm and healthy?

Here are some foods you can get your hands on, on a cold rainy day.

Oatmeal;
Oatmeal is good for your heart as it's rich in fiber, protein, and vitamins which are good for lowering cholesterol.

Having a healthy heart ensures that your heart can work double-time for better blood circulation which is needed to keep your body warm.

A hot bowl of oatmeal can bring warmth and a soothing feeling on cold days.
 Enjoy it with a dash of brown sugar and some slices of banana. You can also mix it with dried cranberries and honey to enhance flavor and taste.

Pasta;

For chilly weather, whole grain pasta is also ideal. It's filled with fiber and vitamins that help keep your body healthy. You'll need a lot of energy to digest whole-grain meals, which will require your body to work and keep you warm. Personally, I love eating creamy macaroni and chicken soup on a rainy day.

Nuts;

Peanuts and other nuts and seeds are high in good fats (also known as fatty acids). Digesting nuts produce energy that the body needs to start the process of creating body heat.

Ginger;

Ginger is rich in Vitamin C and has anti-viral properties that can help in preventing colds and other illnesses. It also has an anti-inflammatory agent which aids in preventing headaches and body pains. Drinking Ginger tea or eating dishes with ginger helps our body stay warm and safe from common colds and fever.

Adding some honey to your ginger tea helps improve its taste and aroma.

Apples, Avocados, and Bananas;

Avocados are rich in fatty acids that our bodies can use to produce heat. Apples are rich in enzymes that are good for your health. Bananas are rich in potassium and magnesium that your body uses to produce energy.

Try making some salad by mixing some fruits, nuts, lettuce with a great dressing, and munch on it while having a movie marathon will surely help your body stay warm and cozy on a rainy day.

Dark Chocolate / Cacao;

A hot cup of chocolate drink in cold weather is a must. This time try making it with dark chocolate with some marshmallows. A study shows that cacao contains theobromine that helps prevent cough and cold.

Let's start to consider rainy days as opportunities to give your body that much-needed care and love it truly deserves. Eat, and relax with these foods, enjoy the cold weather while staying healthy and warm in the comfort of your home.
