Honey Lemon and Ginger Mix; A Simple Concoction to Help you Feel Better


It is flu season again, and with COVID-19's new variant Omicron spread throughout the region, a lot of people have fallen sick despite getting vaccinated.

Colds, fever, and cough are some of the symptoms of having the COVID-19. But let's not haste to a conclusion, with the changing weather, it can also mean that you may have the flu, which can be treated at home. 

But, please remember that if you have Colds, fever, and cough, for more than 3 days, and have been having a hard time breathing, please seek Professional Medical help right away. It's always best to be on the safe side and getting help from professionals is the best way to cure the disease.

However, if you have just started having colds and coughs, here is a simple concoction that you make and take to help you feel better.


Honey Lemon and Ginger Mix.

Ingredients: 

Honey; known for its antibacterial and antifungal properties,  also it is rich in antioxidants. Honey is a natural sweetener that is also rich in prebiotics that helps in improving digestion.

Lemon; we all know is rich in Vitamin C and soluble fiber. Lemons are great for weight management, digestive improvement and can help lower the risks of heart diseases and cancer.

Ginger;  a superfood, is filled with lots of antioxidants and anti-inflammatory compounds. Ginger is used in treating nausea, flu, and common colds. Its also rich in Vitamin C, and fiber. 

How to make Honey Lemon and Ginger Mix

Making this concoction is very easy,


Cut lemons in wedges or in rings (whichever style you like will work, just make sure to remove the seeds, to avoid the bitter taste.), you can add lime and calamansi too.

Peel and cut ginger into thin strips

In a clean mason jar, (or you can also use any type of airtight container) combine Lemon, Honey, and Ginger strips. 

You can add Cinnamon sticks or Powder, Cloves, and slices of Garlic to the mixture. however, these ingredients are completely optional

Make sure that all ingredients are submerged in honey. Press the lemons lightly to release its juice.

Cover and let the mixture sit and cure in the fridge for 24 to 72 hours.

Once this is ready, take a tablespoon full and mix with how water and enjoy as a Hot Tea or take it directly.

You can also add it to smoothies and iced tea.
